The juried OP ART/GLASS exhibit showcases works of art, fabricated in glass, that explore optical effects through technique, movement, flashing or vibrating design, optical configurations or repeated patterns. Lios presents two designs: Morphogenesis Table and Tetra.
Designers Lighting Forum NY
"Join us for a virtual tour of Lios's studio, located in Cambridge, MA, where they produce 3D printed glass lighting, focusing on the integral development of technology and design.
Co-founders Michael Stern and Daniel Lizardo began their studio to realize projects in glass with unique form and behavior using the molten glass 3D printing process they helped invent while they were students at MIT's engineering and architecture schools.
In this presentation, they will discuss the development of their 3D printed glass technology and the unique qualities of light and form 3D glass printing makes possible. Using images of Lios projects, Michael and Daniel will share their capabilities for custom designs, collaborative partnerships, and the future direction of the studio.”
May 20, 2020 - 5:30pm EDT live online presentation
RIT Visiting Artists
RIT invites Daniel Lizardo, Michael Stern, and Peter Houk as visiting glass artists to lecture and demo in the hot shop.
Daniel, Michael, and MIT Glass Lab Director Peter Houk are invited to give a lecture and studio workshop at the Rochester Institute of Technology College of Art and Design. Professors David Schnuckel and Susie Peck created space for glass and design majors to experiment with molten glass extrusion led by Lios artists.
